![]() Now, tap the media file, which you want to cast, and tap on the cast button. Just navigate to the folder, where the media file(s) is present. Step 3: By default, you can choose a piece of local music, video or photo on your smartphone to cast the same to your TV. Just allow it, and after that go through the initial setup process, or simply tap on ‘ Skip’, which is recommended. Step 2: Open the app, and LocalCast app will ask for the storage permission. You can even go for the LocalCast Pro to remove the ads from the interface and get some small extra features. Step 1: Download and install the LocalCast app on your smartphone from the Google Play Store. Today I will discuss how you can enjoy all your digital contents happily with you and your family members sitting in the same room. Some video or audio players might have the option to cast the contents to a TV, but that isn’t unified. With a Chromecast connected to your TV, you can even stream contents from those sources to your TV, as well. We also have a plethora of personal digital files on our smartphones, computers, NAS, cloud storage services and other places. You just need to connect your smartphone, your TV or basically your Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network.īut our digital world is not always limited to the audio and video streaming services and our TV shows. When it comes to enjoying movies on the big screen, the Chromecast is a great device, which can bring our favourite web series and TV shows from different apps and websites to our big screen with the aid of an internet connection. When smartphones had made our life a lot easier, and we can enjoy watching movies and shows or play games on the go, we sometimes even love watching them sitting on the couch, hands-free, but with some popcorn to munch on, while enjoying the same on the big screen. ![]() Maybe I should explore that part of it.Use LocalCast to cast files on phone or tablet, NAS (DLNA/UPnP or Samba), Google Drive, Google+, Dropbox or a webpage to Chromecast, Roku, Nexus Player, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Stick, Sony Bravia, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and other SmartTVs, Sonos, Xbox 360, Xbox One or other DLNA Devices. I've only ever used it for streaming video. To be honest, I've never used the music portion of Kodi. The price is a bit steep but if it can do everything I want and need it to, and it works well, I'll be happy to pay it. It also supports gapless playback which Samba doesn't seem to. If it is, I may have found my app as it appears USB Audio Player Pro will let you create custom playlists and view your music library by Artist, Album and Genre - all of the things the Samba Network Music Player app can't do. I've just sent a message off to its developers to find out if it's compatible with my LG V20's ESS Technologies ES9218 Quad DAC. Thanks to Wildcat's recommendation, I'm looking at USB Audio Player Pro as a possible replacement. As a free app I can't complain about it but the UI is pretty basic and it only has the most basic features. Yes, that's the app I've been using for streaming off the NAS. I wish it had GMMP's features, UI and capabilities but it falls far short of that in all aspects.ĭoes anyone know of an Android Media Player/Streamer app that kind of has the best of both these worlds? Like if GMMP and Samba got together and had a baby and that baby had all the best features of both parents? I'm happy to use Samba for now but I'm really looking for something better and more full featured. ![]() I can't create and save custom playlists and I can't view my music by Artist and Album or Genre or whatever. So for streaming the music off my NAS I'm using the Samba Music Player which does a pretty good job of streaming the FLAC files but it's UI is kind of basic and clunky and it only does the most basic things. I have my entire CD collection ripped to FLAC on my NAS drive and I can't access that music and stream it on GMMP. The one thing it can't do (and I really wish it could) is stream audio files off network shares. For listening to FLAC files stored on my Android devices I like to use Gone Mad Music Player (GMMP) because it has a lot of features and capabilities that I like and a good UI. ![]()
